Women's Hockey Cruises Past Bowdoin

Middlebury returned to NESCAC play with a 7-2 win over Bowdoin in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers remain unbeaten in their last eight (7-0-1) and improve to 8-1-1. The Polar Bears fall to 2-5-1 on the season.

The first period was scoreless through 13:08, when the Polar Bears took a five-minute major for boarding. The Panthers took advantage and scored three goals in a 3:56 span to take a 3-0 lead. Tania Kenny scored the first with a wrister from the right point. Randi Dumont put in her own rebound at 16:29, while Ashley Bairos tipped in a shot from Kristen Wilson for the third power play tally of the period.

Kenny struck again at 4:12 of the second period with a shot from the left point. Bowdoin got on the board with a power play goal at 10:16, as Katherine Pokrass found Katie Coyne for the goal. Middlebury answered just 13 seconds later with a goal from Jessica Bennett.

Cellino converted a shorthanded breakaway early in the third period before Lacey Farrell scored on the power play to make it a 7-1 game at the 8:49 mark. Bethany Croskey ended the scoring with some great individual moves as she was breaking in alone.

Lani Wright ended the game with 10 saves to earn the win, while Samantha Schwager made 32 stops for Bowdoin.
