Middlebury out shot Simmons 29-2 on its way to a 4-0 win in a first-round NCAA Tournament game on Dragone Field. The Panthers advance to the second round and will host Keene State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. on Dragone Field.

Brittany Cronin opened the scoring for Middlebury at the 7:04 mark as she set the school's single-season goal scoring record with her 17th of the season. Abby Kurtz-Phelan sent a through ball to Cronin, who beat the goal keeper to the ball and dodged a defender before rolling a lengthy shot into the left corner.

Cronin struck again at 19:44 with a similar type goal after a feed from Caity Abshere. The senior this time beat Alia Sullivan with a low hard shot to the left side.  Cronin had a great chance for the hat trick in the 23rd minute, but Sullivan made a great diving save after a nice cross from Laura Kwoh.

Kim Walker gave the Panthers a 3-0 advantage at 24:08 as she received a pass from Cronin before ripping a shot into the top left corner from 18 yards out.

Simmons' best chance to score came in the 52nd minute when Nicole Zielinski found Kara Paglone, who took a point-blank shot that was saved by Middlebury keeper Els Van Woert.

Carly Berger was credited with the Panther's final goal as her corner kick at 75:10 was knocked into the net by a defender.

Van Woert ended the game with one save for her seventh shutout of the season. Sullivan and Katie Taglieri combined to make seven saves for the Sharks.
