Middlebury College

The #8 Middlebury field hockey team netted the first four goals of Sunday's matchup against #13 Hamilton en route to a 4-2 victory from Peter Kohn Field.

HIGHLIGHTS

• With 3:40 elapsed in the first quarter, Anna Powell dialed up a high look from two steps inside the circle that sailed over the crossbar.
• Three minutes later, Hadley Crowther slapped a high bid during a breakaway chance that Continental goalie Kelly Janssen slapped away.
• Megan Fuqua pushed the hosts in front with 58 seconds to go in the initial frame, settling a feed from Kennedy and thumping the back panel for a 1-0 lead.
• Hamilton tested the waters early in the second quarter. Isabelle Nahon sent a long ball into the circle that deflected off a Panther stick, but netminder Izzy Redzic booted the bid out of harm's way for the save.
• Chandler was sent to the penalty dot after a Continental foot prevented a sure goal. The Panther doubled the advantage (2-0) on a low-left stinging shot with 8:11 to play in the opening half.
• Emma McNealy joined the scoring column with a flashy finish, splitting two defenders and chipping a chance over a sprawled-out Janssen to rustle the right netting, swelling the advantage to three.
• Nahon nearly cut into the deficit following a penalty corner chance with just over nine minutes played in the session but Redzic denied the opportunity with her right foot to hold the three-goal difference at the break.
• The hosts wasted no time finding the back of the cage in the third quarter. Just 45 seconds in, Chandler found Crowther in front for a backhanded shot into the left corner and a 4-0 edge.
• Janssen denied a stellar opportunity from Fuqua with 3:38 left in the third stanza, dropping to a split and booting a sharp-angled shot away with her right foot.
• Fuqua had a penalty stroke opportunity with 51 ticks elapsed in the fourth quarter, but Janssen slid to her right and padded away the opportunity to hold the 4-0 score.
• With 6:03 left, Eva Bell swept a quick cross-circle feed to Eleanor Cooper for a one-time dump into the right panel, getting Hamilton on the board (4-1).
• Kenna White followed 54 seconds later, charging into the circle for a one-on-one chance, but netminder Madeline DiLemme stormed off her line to quell the chance.
• McMahon redirected a shot from Morgan Clarke into the netting with 16 seconds left to seal the 4-2 final score. 

NOTES

• Four different Panthers scored in the contest, with Chandler's goal and assist capping an eight-point weekend (3G, 2A).
• Middlebury earned a season-high 17 penalty corners against the Continentals.
• Redzic and DiLemme each logged 30 minutes in front of the goal.
• The sides squared off for the 28th time, with the Panthers holding a 24-4 advantage and a 10-game winning streak in the all-time series.
