The top-ranked Middlebury field hockey team earned a 2-0 victory on Sunday over #15 Bryn Mawr. The top-25 matchup was contested on Hamilton's Goodrich Field in Clinton, New York.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers had a pair of scoring chances in the first 3:41 of the opening quarter on shots by Emma McNealy and Addie Chandler, but Owl goalie Charlene Basque saved both bids.
- Middlebury looked to get on the scoreboard with 1:51 left in the frame, but a shot from McNealy was thwarted on a defensive save by Sophie Chung.
- With 2:58 elapsed in the second frame, the Panthers earned their second penalty corner of the contest and scored following the insertion when Megan Fuqua laced a shot into the goal for a 1-0 edge.
- Middlebury recorded consecutive penalty corners in the final minute of the half, but an attempt from Grace Keefe was blocked and a chance by Fuqua went wide of the post.
- The blue and white manufactured a quality chance with 48 seconds gone after the halftime break, but a shot by Shawna Ferraro was blocked by a Bryn Mawr defender.
- The Panthers continued to press for a second goal, recording a trio of penalty corners in quick succession. The best chance came on the final bid when a shot by Emma McCann was thwarted by Basque with 3:36 left.
- The Owls pushed for the equalizer at 3:52 of the final stanza with their initial shot of the game. Leya Patel sent a blast from inside the arc that was saved by Middlebury goalie Izzy Redzic.
- With just under five minutes left, Eliza Cho and Fuqua fired attempts within seconds of each other, but Basque denied both chances to keep it a one-goal difference.
- The Panthers increased the lead to 2-0 with 1:42 left. An initial shot by Chandler was saved by Basque, but the loose ball came back to the Panther who tapped in the rebound for a two-goal advantage.
- The Owls took the ensuing possession and had a pair of quality chances, but Redzic saved shots by Mary Stronach and Ilona Bender for the final 2-0 score.
NOTES
- Fuqua's tally was her fourth of the season, while Chandler notched her second tally.
- Ellie Harrison earned the assist on the game-winning goal, giving her a helper in each of the last two contests.
- Redzic recorded three saves for her first shutout of the fall and the third of her career.
- Middlebury and Bryn Mawr squared off for the second meeting in the all-time series. The other contest came last fall with the Panthers earning a 9-0 victory in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
Middlebury returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Trinity for an 11:00 a.m. contest against the Bantams.
