Women’s Basketball Eases Past Connecticut College 70-55

The Middlebury women's basketball team tallied its sixth-straight win as it claimed a 70-55 win over Connecticut College.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers went on a 20-7 run spanning 5:50 to open the first quarter. Alexa Mustafaj capped the spurt off with a three-point field goal.
  • The Camels responded with their own 13-0 run in the second quarter, finished by a free throw from Catie Hurley to cut the Middlebury lead to two (27-25) at the 3:38 mark.
  • Both sides opened the third stanza by trading baskets to keep the game at one possession (40-37) with 4:17 remaining on the clock.
  • Hallie Thompson gave Connecticut College its first lead of the game, capping a 7-0 spurt over 1:17 with a layup for a 42-40 edge.
  • The Panthers answered back with a 7-0 run to end the quarter to jump back ahead by a 47-42 margin. Augusta Dixon finished the surge with a block on defensive end and an ensuing fastbreak layup with five ticks left.
  • Middlebury stretched its lead to 10 to begin the stanza on a Keeley Baglio three-point field goal and another layup from Dixon. 
  • The Camels got as close as 60-55 with a bucket from Catie Donadio before a Catherine Carrafiello layup sparked a 10-0 run over the final 4:06 to clinch the 70-55 triumph. 
NOTES
  • Dixon collected a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds.
  • Carafiello tallied a career-high 12 points and five boards.
  • Middlebury limited the Camels to 4-of-15 in the final stanza and shot 68.75 percent from the floor.
  • The programs played for the 32nd time with the Panthers holding a 25-7 advantage in the all-time series.
Middlebury returns to action tomorrow at Tufts for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
