The Middlebury softball team swept Hamilton in doubleheader action on Saturday. The Panthers took the opening game 6-2, before blanking the Continentals 3-0 in the second. Between games, Middlebury honored seniors

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Middlebury got on the board in its first at-bat, taking a 1-0 edge. Leadoff batter Kristyn Carroll walked, stole second and third and later scampered home when Fox grounded out.
- Hamilton evened the score in the third when a single to center by Alexis Mayer drove in Hadley Rogers.
- The Panthers answered in their half of the inning when a hard base knock by Fox drove in both Carroll and Ziegler to make it 3-1.
- Middlebury increased its advantage to 5-1 in the fifth. A single to center by McKenna Lont plated Carroll, before Kelley Dever sliced a double down the left-field line to bring home Nina Schroeder and Lont.
- The Continentals got one run back in the seventh when Julia Hacker touched the plate on a single from Alison Zorn for the 6-2 final.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Middlebury took a 1-0 edge in the third inning when Carroll scampered home on a passed ball.
- The Panthers secured the game in the fifth when Jennifer Westphal blasted a home run down the left-field line, driving in Olivia Scholes who reached on an error, for the 3-0 victory.
NOTES
- Middlebury has now won nine-straight contests.Â
- Carroll was 5-for-6 at the plate with a triple, eclipsing the 100-career hits mark with 101. She also swiped four bases over the pair of games, which increases her single-season record to 30 and career mark to 38.
- With two RBI today, Fox moved into fourth on Middlebury's career list with 96.
- Lont's win in the circle moved her into a tie for sixth place in the Panther record books with 11 victories.Â
- The program's played for the 60th time in game one, as Middlebury now owns 45 wins against Hamilton.
The Panthers have secured a spot in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament, and will learn their seed and opponent when the field is announced on Sunday.Â
