The second-seeded Middlebury softball team threatened to knot the contest several times, but a strong seventh-seeded Bowdoin squad was able to secure a 4-0 victory in the NESCAC Quarterfinal round.

HIGHLIGHTS
- With two outs in the top of the second, the Polar Bears looked to get on the board. Anna Halliday, Shea Sullivan and Penelope Fong-Picariello each singled to load the bases, but Anika Ewert grounded out to pitcher McKenna Lont as the Panthers kept Bowdoin at bay.
- A sacrifice fly by Elise Siciliano scored Kyla Gary, giving the Polar Bears a 1-0 edge in the third inning.
- In the top of the fifth, Bowdoin took a 2-0 advantage. Gary singled to left, stole second and scampered home on a base hit from Chloe Garcia.
- Middlebury threatened to knot the contest in its half of the inning. Olivia Scholes singled, before pinch-runner Marina Lyon later advanced to third when Kelley Dever blasted a double off the wall in center field. With two outs on the board, the Polar Bears brought in reliever Maddie Current, but a patient Kristyn Carroll drew a walk to load the bases. Bowdoin worked itself out of the jam, making the final out to deny the Panthers a run.
- Middlebury tried to get things going again in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs, Nina Schroeder singled through the left side and Scholes blooped a base knock to center, but Current came up big, striking out the final batter.
- In the top of the seventh, Ewert walked before stealing second. Later in the inning, Garcia was hit by a pitch and Siciliano singled to left to load the bases. Sydney Lang reached on a fielder's choice with the Panthers throwing Ewert out at home, but JK Bradley knocked a base hit to deep left to score Siciliano and Garcia to secure the 4-0 victory for Bowdoin.Â

- With her one walk today, Carroll ties the school record for most base on balls in a single season with 25.Â
- This marked Middlebury's 13th appearance in the NESCAC Tournament.Â
- The Panthers and the Polar Bears met for the 19th time in the program's history.
Middlebury will await its NCAA Tournament fate with the at-large selections and the full field being announced on Monday, May 13.
