#1 Women’s Lacrosse Prevails 18-10 Against Hamilton

The top-ranked Middlebury women's lacrosse team held off several comeback attempts by Hamilton, prevailing 18-10 to claim its 41st-straight win.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Skylar Lach got the Panthers on the board with 45 seconds elapsed when her bouncing quick-stick tally found nylon for the 1-0 edge.
  • The Continentals responded at the 12:37 mark when Maddigan Leifer slotted a free-position attempt into the goal with an extra player.
  • Returning the extra-player tally was Hope Shue at the 9:53 mark, but Alana King answered with 7:55 remaining to make it 2-2. King's initial bid hit the crossbar, but she picked up the groundball and eluded goalie Gina Driscoll on the left side.
  • Middlebury responded with a trio of markers to close the first quarter, including a pair while on the player advantage, to make it 5-2.
  • Less than a minute into the second frame, Leifer cut the deficit to a pair (5-3) with a free-position marker that found the lower right corner.
  • The Panthers extended their advantage with a 5-0 run featuring five different goal-scorers, taking a 10-3 lead with just over three minutes until the halftime break.
  • Hamilton wouldn't go away, tallying three-straight goals to slice the advantage down to four (10-6) at the intermission. The Continentals used every second allotted to them, with two of the tallies coming with 10 seconds left on the clock.
  • Middlebury came out strong to start the second half, rattling off four unanswered goals, including a player-up tally to a commanding 14-6 lead.
  • Leifer and King each scored for Hamilton, sandwiched around a marker by Sara Ellinghaus to bring the score to 15-8 at the end of the third quarter.
  • Ellinghaus tallied another goal to start the final frame, before dishing out a beautiful pass to Charlotte Price who found nylon to extend the advantage to 17-8.
  • The teams traded the final three goals of the game, as Middlebury eased to the 18-10 victory.
NOTES
  • The win was the Panther's 21st-consecutive tally on Peter Kohn Field, and 41st-straight triumph overall.
  • Hamilton is one of just three teams to tally double-digits against Middlebury, as the program's played for the 16th time.
  • Caroline Adams tied her career-best with 12 draw controls, and moves into fourth place on the Panther's career list with 190 total.
  • With a pair of goals today, Shue bumps up to a three-way tie for fourth place on Middlebury's career marker list with 186.
