The Middlebury men's basketball team pulled to within five points with 4:37 left in Friday's back-and-forth regular-season finale, but Connecticut College pulled away for a 72-55 decision on Senior Night.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Trailing 13-10, the Panthers ripped off a 12-4 run capped by a layup from David Brennan for a 22-17 advantage with 10:42 remaining.
- The Camels battled back, cutting the deficit to one (24-23) on a basket by Ben Rice nearly two minutes later.
- Middlebury tallied seven of the next nine points, grabbing its largest lead of the first half at six (31-25) on a free throw by Kuba Cwalina at the 6:18 mark.
- Connecticut College closed the stanza on a 12-3 run, taking a 37-34 advantage into the break on a three-point shot by Elias Espinosa.
- Ahead by four (43-39) early in the second stanza, the Camels put together a 13-4 burst for a 56-43 edge with 8:56 left.
- The Panthers whittled the deficit down to five (58-53) on a jumper by Noah Osher with 4:37 showing on the clock.
- Connecticut College tallied 14 of the game's final 16 points to pull away for the 72-55 victory.
NOTES
- Prior to the contest, the program honored seniors Lamine Cisse, Charley Moore, Osher and student assistant coach Jackson Pitcher for their efforts and contributions.
- The programs played for the 44th time with the Panthers owning a 29-15 advantage. Middlebury has won 14 of the last 17 matchups.
The Panthers will wait to learn their NESCAC Championship fate later this weekend when the final regular-season contests conclude around the league.
