Keeley Baglio tallied a career-high 18 points off the bench, helping the Middlebury women's basketball team to an 80-42 victory Saturday over Norwich in the Ed Hockenbury Classic Championship.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Alexa Mustafaj tallied two baskets to put the Panthers ahead 4-0 before Norwich put together a 6-0 spurt over nearly two minutes for a 6-4 edge with 7:16 remaining in the opening quarter.
- Middlebury responded as a pull-up jumper from Callie Messina swelled into eight-consecutive points for the visitors to make it a 15-6 contest at the 2:52 mark.
- The Panther lead hit double figures on Baglio's third made jumper of the contest for a 20-10 advantage after one.
- The cushion grew for Middlebury in the second stanza, tallying 10 of the initial 12 points with four from Kale Tornwini, for a 30-12 score with 6:32 remaining.
- Norwich trimmed the deficit with a Kiley O'Brien hook shot and pull-up three from the top of the key by Maren McGinn to get within 13 (30-17) at the 5:37 mark.
- Middlebury kept its foot on the gas pedal with Baglio netting 12 points as part of an 18-2 surge to take a 48-19 edge into the locker room. The Panther defense also held the Cadets to 1-10 shooting over the final 5:37.
- Messina nailed a left corner three and Augusta Dixon tallied a layup on consecutive possessions for a 34-point cushion (53-19) with 2:17 elapsed in the third quarter.
- Haley Brewster cut the deficit to 30 (57-27) on a jumper before an Emma Kirck three-pointer sparked a 7-2 run over the final 1:05 for a 66-31 score after three quarters.
- Middlebury was never challenged in the fourth and secured the 80-42 triumph.

- Baglio tallied her career-best 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor.
- With her 17 points, Mustafaj has recorded double digits in 78 of 82 career contests.
- Middlebury held a 40-8 edge in bench points and scored 26 points off 21 Cadet turnovers.
