The #2 Middlebury field hockey team scored multiple goals in the final three quarters, pulling away from #15 Bryn Mawr for a 9-0 victory in NCAA Tournament second-round action. During the win,
Amy Griffin tallied a pair of helpers to become the program's career assist leader with 49.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Middlebury looked to get on the scoreboard just over a minute into the first frame, but a shot by Griffin from just inside the circle was saved by Owl goalie Charlene Basque.
- The hosts continued to apply pressure in the offensive end of the field, as a rising attempt with 12:40 elapsed from Caroline Segal was denied by Basque's right pad.
- The Panthers found the back of the cage with 1:01 left in the stanza. Segal raced down the right side, sending the ball to the left post for the 1-0 advantage.
- Middlebury increased its lead 1:34 into the second quarter following a penalty corner. Griffin sent a pass to the stick of Lilly Branka who lifted a shot into the left side of the cage to make it 2-0.
- Bryn Mawr pressed ahead and produced its best chance of the stanza with 6:58 expired. Lucie Burgess ripped a shot that Panther goalie Madeline DiLemme kicked away.
- Segal made it a 3-0 contest at 8:52, carrying the ball through the circle before ripping a shot that found space in the left side of the goal.
- Middlebury tallied its third marker of the frame 3:01 later when Emma McCann redirected a pass on the right post for her first career goal for a 4-0 halftime lead.
- Griffin continued her strong day, scoring 42 seconds after the break on a reverse sweep.
- The Panthers converted 1:23 later following a penalty corner as Grace Keefe blasted a shot from just inside the circle into the right side.
- Middlebury increased the advantage to 7-0 with 6:43 left in the frame when Segal tapped a pass into the right side of the cage.
- The Panthers added a pair of tallies in the fourth quarter following penalty corners, with goals from Megan Fuqua and Emily Stone for the final 9-0 decision.

- In addition to her school record, Griffin now has 159 career points (55G, 49A), moving her into fifth place in the Middlebury record books.
- DiLemme played the first three quarters in goal for the Panthers with one save, while Izzy Redzic logged the final 15 minutes with one stop.
- Segal posted a career-high seven points, recording a hat trick and assisting on another tally.
- Middlebury has scored 98 goals this season which ranks fourth in the program's single-season laurels.
- Saturday's contest between Middlebury and Bryn Mawr marked the first matchup between the schools in field hockey.
The Panthers advance to Sunday's regional final at 1:00 p.m. and will play the winner of Saturday's second contest between #5 Johns Hopkins and #9 Cortland.
