Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#1 Women’s Lacrosse Wins 17th-Straight Game At Plymouth State

The top-ranked Middlebury women's lacrosse team ran its winning streak to 17 on Tuesday night, easing to a 22-7 victory at Plymouth State. The Panthers have claimed 26-consecutive triumphs on the road and improve to 12-0 overall this season.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury came out strong and took an early 7-0 commanding lead. Maggie Coughlin got things going at the 13:16 mark when she received a feed from Jane Earley, before slipping the ball over Plymouth State goalie Piper Sherbert's right shoulder. Coughlin added a second goal and an assist during the span.
  • The hosts responded with a pair of markers under a minute apart. Olivia Croke had a nifty pass to Maddie Hunt who snuck the ball inside the left pipe, before Jenna Stowell found the goal through traffic.
  • Caroline Adams and Earley each scored in the final two minutes of the opening quarter to make it 9-2.
  • The teams traded a pair of goals each to open the second stanza, giving Middlebury an 11-4 lead.
  • With 3:37 remaining in the half, Sara Ellinghaus barreled through the circle and found nylon, putting the visitors ahead 14-4 to force running time.
  • Susan Rowley capped the scoring, making a move around a defender and eluded Sherbert for the 15-4 advantage at the break.
  • Trailing 16-4 with 12:26 to go in the third quarter, Plymouth State took advantage of being up two players. Amelia Thomas fended off a pair of defenders and fired a ball from the right side of the crease into the left panel.
  • The teams swapped two goals apiece to close out the quarter, as the visitors maintained a sizeable lead (18-7).
  • Middlebury tallied four unanswered goals in the final frame, easing to the 22-7 victory.
NOTES
  • The visitors had 11 different scorers during the triumph, with Britt Nawrocki notching her first career goal.
  • Earley recorded four points during the contest, moving her into sixth on Middlebury's all-time list with 236. Her three goals also moved her into sole possession of fifth in the program's scoring column (183). Earley eclipsed the 200-career draw controls mark, tallying eight during the game.
  • Goalie Annie Enrietto made four stops to improve to 27-0, while Allie Batista saved the lone shot faced over 15 minutes of action.
  • Middlebury and Plymouth State met for the 27th time tonight.
