Middlebury Tops Connecticut College 3-0 To Open Weekend Action

The Middlebury volleyball team cruised past Connecticut College 3-0 to open its road weekend. The Panthers have won seven of their last eight contests, and recorded their seventh straight-set win of the season.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The opening set was a back-and-forth affair before the Camels took a 19-14 lead.
  • Middlebury responded and took advantage of a pair of errors by Connecticut College, knotting the contest at 20 points apiece.
  • The teams traded the next eight rallies before a kill by Lauren Baxter and a blocking wall by Baxter and Gabby Pribisich secured the 27-25 win.
  • The second frame was close in the early goings, but a 4-0 burst capped by a kill from Pribisich gave the Panthers a 13-9 edge.
  • The Camels wouldn't go away, eventually knotting the set at 15 points apiece.
  • Middlebury capitalized on several Connecticut College miscues to take a 19-15 lead, but the hosts hung around and kept the difference within reach at four points (22-18).
  • The Panthers tallied the final four points of the frame, with a kill and two-straight services aces from Molly Harrison for the 25-18 triumph.
  • Middlebury exploded in the third set, racing out to a commanding 20-9 advantage.
  • Connecticut College rattled off 11 of the next 15 points to cut the lead down to just three (24-21), but a kill from Pribisich gave the Panthers the 25-21 victory.
NOTES
  • Gabbie O'Toole tallied 29 assists during the victory, increasing her impressive streak of recording 20 or more helpers in 62 of 63 career matches.
  • Harrison was the only player to reach double-digits in kills (14), marking the ninth-straight match eclipsing the plateau.
  • The teams met for the 30th time this evening, with Middlebury extending its winning streak against the Camels to seven-consecutive triumphs.

The Panthers travel to Maine on Saturday, taking on Bowdoin at 2:00 p.m.
