Volleyball Falls to #23 Tufts In Three Close Sets

The Middlebury volleyball team fell to #23 Tufts in three close sets (25-16, 25-22, 25-18) on Friday night. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Jumbos jumped out to a 9-1 advantage to start the opening stanza, highlighted by a trio of kills from Grace Legris.
  • The Panthers slowly chipped away at the deficit, cutting it to three (11-8) on a kill from Lucy Ambach.
  • Tufts continued to maintain the lead, claiming the set by a score of 25-16.
  • The Jumbos rattled off nine of the first 12 points in the middle frame, taking a 9-3 advantage.
  • With set point on the line, Middlebury went on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to two (24-22), but it wasn't enough as Tufts secured the set with the final point.  
  • The third set was a back-and-forth affair, with the score deadlocked 13 times before Tufts went on a 10-2 run to take a 23-15 lead.
  • The Panthers whittled down the deficit to six (24-18), but Rileigh Farragher's kill sealed the three-set win for the Jumbos. 
 
NOTES
  • Kelly Ferrero set a new career best in three sets, digging out 22 balls during the contest. 
  • Gabbie O'Toole has now tallied 20 or more assists in each of her 37 matches played during her Middlebury career.
