#1 Panthers Win 50th-Straight Game On Kohn Field

The top-ranked Middlebury field hockey team won its 50th-straight game on Kohn Field, cruising past Connecticut College 10-1. The Panthers also extended their overall winning streak to 41-consecutive victories, a record dating back to the 2019 season.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury got out to a quick start, scoring a pair of goals in the opening four minutes. The first tally of the contest came with 2:18 elapsed when Katie George flicked in a cross from Sadie LeStage. Minutes later after a penalty corner, Amy Griffin swept the ball to Grace Murphy, whose hard shot deflected off Camel goalie Sophie Monez and into the cage for the 2-0 edge.
  • Murphy closed out the first quarter with 10:04 remaining, lofting the ball into the upper-right corner for the 3-0 advantage.
  • Lilly Branka, Audrey Lazar and Hanna Medwar each scored during the second stanza, making it 6-0 at the break.
  • Griffin converted a penalty stroke to make it 7-0 with 38:00 showing on the third-quarter clock.
  • At the 42:37 mark, Caroline Haggerty redirected an initial blast by Taylor Leckey for the 8-0 lead.
  • Connecticut College spoiled the shutout with just under a minute to play in the third quarter. An initial shot by Katie Dolan was denied by Middlebury goalie Grace Harlan, but Grace LaVigne was there to slip the rebound into the goal to make it 8-1.
  • Leckey set up Medwar for a nice tip-in goal during the 53rd minute.
  • Sarah Bona closed out the scoring with a beautiful goal. Bona dribbled the ball down the field, sending it through the legs of a Camel defender. Goalie Monez came charging out, but Bona snuck the ball past for the 10-1 win.
