Middlebury Cruises Past Connecticut College, 3-0

The Middlebury volleyball team eased past Connecticut College in three sets (25-13, 25-22, 25-12) in its first of three home matches this weekend. With the victory, the Panthers have won their last 14 home matches dating back to the 2019 season.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Trailing 8-3 in the opening set, the Camels slowly cut the deficit to just two (13-11) on a kill by Taylor Knott.
  • Middlebury tallied 12 of the final 14 points of the frame, fueled by strong service runs from Britt Lange and Kelly Ferrero, for a 25-13 opening-set triumph.
  • In a tight second set, Connecticut College grabbed a 13-9 edge on a kill by Emma Wheeler.
  • The Panthers rattled off five-consecutive points, with a kill from Lucy Ambach giving the hosts a one-point edge (14-13).
  • After trading small leads, Middlebury took a 23-21 edge on a kill by Laney Sullivan. 
  • After an attack error brought the Camels to within one (23-22), a kill from Sullivan and a service ace by Lange gave the Panthers a two-set lead.
  • Middlebury quickly grabbed an 8-3 advantage in the third set with a service ace from Katie Kraczkowsky. 
  • Connecticut College cut into the lead (10-8) on a kill by Christina Leduc. 
  • The Panthers ripped off 14 of the ensuing 16 points, easing to the straight-set triumph by a final score of 25-12.
NOTES
  • Middlebury finished with 11 service aces, marking the third time this fall it has tallied a double-digit total.
  • Gabbie O'Toole continued her streak of recording at least 20 assists in every match of her collegiate career, finishing with a career-high 35 helpers in a three-set victory.
  • Ferrero has double-digit dig totals in 11 of 13 contests this fall, recording 15 in the win.
  • The Panthers improve to 21-8 against the Camels in the all-time series, collecting victories in six-straight meetings. Middlebury has surrendered just two sets during the streak.
