HIGHLIGHTS Trailing by two points in the opening set, Middlebury went on a 14-2 run to take a decisive 17-7 lead. The final five points of the span were highlighted by strong serving from Manya Kula. A kill by Nora Ryan cut the visitor deficit to single digits (17-8), but the hosts tallied eight of the final nine points for the 25-9 triumph. Knotted at four points apiece in the second set, Middlebury went on a 6-1 run, capped by a service ace from Lilian Caldwell, for the 10-5 advantage. Plymouth State took advantage of a pair of miscues to bring the difference to three (10-7). An 8-2 run by Middlebury, sparked by strong serving from Kula, gave the hosts an 18-9 lead. The visitors mounted a comeback attempt late in the set, but Middlebury never wavered, securing the 25-16 triumph on a kill from Katie Kraczkowsky. Plymouth State jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the third frame, closing out the span with a pair of kills by Emilee Flanagan. The visitors maintained a four-point lead for the middle portion of the set. Trailing 16-12, Middlebury rattled off seven of the next nine points to take a 19-18 edge. Plymouth State had a two-point burst to regain the lead (20-19), but that was as close as the squad would get. The hosts tallied six-straight points, with a pair of kills from both Kraczkowsky and Lucy Ambach, to solidify the 25-20 win and earn the sweep. NOTES Gabbie O'Toole eclipsed the 20-assist mark for the 44th-straight match, recording 28 during the victory.
