Middlebury improved to 9-3-1 on the season with a 3-1 road win at Keene State (3-6-3) on Tuesday evening. The Panthers return to action on Saturday when they visit Trinity for an 11:00 a.m. contest.
Middlebury pressured early, breaking through at the 25:28 mark with the first of his career from
Andrew Juarez. After
Brandon Reid was taken down in the penalty area, Juarez pounced on the loose ball and blasted it into the bottom left corner of the net for the 1-0 advantage.
Keene State evened the game just 1:14 into the second half when Nicholas Dalesio headed in a corner kick from Denis Fleming.
The Panthers regained the lead (2-1) at the 49:25 mark when
Jordan Saint-Louis scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season. After winning a goal kick near midfield, Saint-Louis raced to the goal all alone, slipping a hard shot into the right side of the net from the 18 after Owl keeper Anthony Pasciuto came out to challenge.
Reid had a couple of nice chances in the 58th and 65th minutes, with one shot just missing the crossbar and the other denied by Pasciuto.
Middlebury gained some breaking room with just over 10 minutes remaining when
Tyler Payne netted his first-career goal. Saint-Louis centered the ball from the left side toward the far post, where it hit a defender and came to Payne, who buried the shot for the 3-1 final.
Ryan Grady finished with a save in goal for the Panthers, while Pasciuto made seven stops for the hosts. Middlebury held an 18-7 shots advantage in the game, while boasting a 14-4 lead in corner kicks.
