Women's Squash Finishes in Third at NESCAC Championship

The fifth-seeded Middlebury women's squash team (8-7) eased past third-seeded Amherst 6-3 in the third-place match of the 2020 NESCAC Championship on Sunday. The match was the third-straight time the teams have met in the third-place contest, with the Panthers winning all three over the Mammoths (11-6). 

Amherst took the first point in a tight battle in the top-spot (9-11, 11-5, 13-11, 8-11, 11-2). Trailing 1-0, Middlebury earned three-straight victories to take a 3-1 advantage. Anne Glassie earned a 3-1 (11-9, 11-9, 5-11, 12-10) victory in the seventh spot, before #5 Natasha Lowitt edged her opponent 3-2 (8-11, 15-13, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7) and #8 Mira Chugh cruised to a 3-0 (9,6,10) win.

The Mammoths made it 3-2 with a victory in the second spot, before Caroline Arena topped her opponent in the sixth flight 3-1 (7-11, 11-2, 11-9, 11-7) to give the Panthers a 4-2 lead. Amherst cut it to 4-3 with a point in the ninth slot, before Middlebury's Gwen Davis clinched the match at #3 (9-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-8). In the fourth flight, Natalie Madden tallied the final point with a 3-0 triumph (8,7,2) for the 6-3 victory.
