The seventh-seeded Middlebury women's squash team (9-9) cruised past eighth-seeded Bates 7-2 in the CSA Team Nationals Kurtz Cup (B Division) consolation playoff match on Sunday afternoon at Yale University. The last time the two teams played in the CSA postseason was also in the 15th/16th match, where the Bobcats (12-7) won 6-3 in 2017. The teams squared off earlier this season with Bates coming away with a 6-3 victory. Both teams wait to hear about the CSA Individual Championships which will be hosted by the University of Pennsylvania March 3-5.

Middlebury won four-straight matches to take a 4-0 advantage. Natalie Madden grabbed the first point of the day with a 3-0 victory (8,0,7) in the fourth spot, before Mira Chugh cruised 3-0 (9,7,7) at #9. The victory was Chugh's 45th of her career. At #3, Gwen Davis surrendered just one game for a 3-1 win (11-8, 11-9, 10-12, 11-9), before Caroline Arena topped her opponent 3-0 (9,9,3) in the sixth flight.

Bates cut the deficit to 4-2 with victories at #1 and #7, before Virginia Schaus was victorious in the second spot (3-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-5) to clinch the match for the Panthers. Emily Beinkampen earned a point in the fifth flight in a close match. She won the first pair of games (7,3), before dropping two (8,8), but was victorious in the fifth 11-9 to make it 6-2. Anne Glassie earned the final point for the Panthers, easing past her opponent 3-0 (6,6,7) in the eighth spot.
