Middlebury concluded its regular season with a 3-1 win at Bowdoin (8-13-3, 4-10-1) to complete the two-game weekend sweep. The second-ranked Panthers (19-2-3, 14-1-1) will be the top seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament and will host eighth-seeded Trinity in a quarterfinal game next Saturday.

Bowdoin broke through Middlebury's stingy defense while on the power play at 4:23 in the first. Kathryn Kester slid a pass to Nell Fusco at the left point for a hard shot. Julia Surgenor tipped the puck in front of the crease to redirect Fusco's shot up and over Panther netminder Anne Goldstein. The power play tally was the first allowed by the Middlebury defense in NESCAC play this season

The Panthers responded less than a minute later with a power play goal of their own. Claudia Vira fired a shot from the right point, before Mollie Dalbey tipped the puck to Madie Leidt in front of the net. Leidt unleashed a quick wrister to best Dani Marquez.  The goal was her NESCAC-leading 16th of the season.

Middlebury took its first lead at the 10:54 mark on an Ellie Barney deflection. Eva Hendrikson banked a pass off the boards in front of Middlebury's bench up to Ashley McDonald. On the right point, McDonald connected with the blade of Barney's stick coming down the slot towards net. The puck deflected though five-hole for the 2-1 advantage.

Middlebury added to its lead with 4:48 remaining in the first when Katie Hargrave scored on a rebound after a shot by Jenna Letterie had been saved.

That would be the game's only scoring as the Panthers skated away with the 3-1 victory.

Middlebury held a commanding 45-13 shots advantage in the game as Goldstein made a dozen saves to earn the win. Dani Marquez finished with 42 stops for the Polar Bears.
