The #15 Middlebury women's squash team (3-7) cruised to an 8-1 victory at Bowdoin (6-6) on Friday afternoon. The Panthers play their final contest of a three-match road stretch on Saturday when they head to #25 Colby for a noon start.
In the top spot, Ideal Dowling came from behind to top her opponent 3-2 (8-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5). At #2, Virginia Schaus found herself knotted at two games apiece, but she was edged in the final game, falling 3-2. Gwen Davis rounded out the top of the ladder, picking up a 3-0 victory (10,4,7) in the third spot.
In the middle of the flight, #4 Natalie Madden (11,4,4), #5 Emily Beinkampen (6,9,2) and #6 Natasha Lowitt (3,2,7) all blanked their opponents. Lowitt surrended a season-low 12 points during her win.
The lower part of the ladder also saw a trio of shutouts. #7 Caroline Arena and #8 Anne Glassie picked up their fourth 3-0 victories of the season, winning by scores of (1,5,4) and (1,4,5,), respectively. Mira Chugh surrendered a team-low four points (0,3,1) en route to her fifth 3-0 victory of the year.
