Women's Squash Opens Home Schedule With A Win

The Panther women's squash team (2-3) earned a dominating 9-0 win over #16 Amherst (2-2) in the team's home opener at the Bostwick Family Squash Center on Thursday. The 14th-ranked Panthers are home again this weekend, facing Franklin & Marshall and Brown on Saturday and Sunday at noon.

Ideal Dowling picked up a tight 3-2 (11-5, 5-11, 2-11 11-4, 11-7) victory in the top spot for the Panthers, while Virginia Schaus was a three-set (4,10,7) winner at second slot. At #3, Gwen Davis was a 3-1 (11-9, 14-12, 10-12, 11-4) winner.

The middle of the lineup saw some tight matches, as Natalie Madden came from two games down to earn a 3-2 (7-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-2, 11-7 win. Also emerging in five games (7-11, 11-6, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6) was Emily Beinkampen at #5. In the sixth spot, Natasha Lowitt came from a game down to pick up a 3-1 (6-11, 11-8, 11-2, 11-8) win.

At the bottom of the ladder, #7 Caroline Arena (6,3,8), #8 Anne Glassie (4,9,3) and #9 Mira Chugh (8,7,5) swept through their opponents, all winning in three games.
