Women's Squash Falls to Williams at CSA Team Championships

The Middlebury women's squash team fell by a 7-2 score on Sunday against No. 13 Williams in the Kurtz Cup's 13th/14th-place match at the CSA Team Championships. The match took place at Wesleyan's Rosenbaum Squash Center. The Panthers finish the season ranked 14th nationally with a record of 13-6.

Sunday's contest marked the third time this season the two teams have played, as the previous two were 6-3 decisions. The Panthers were victorious at home on January 5, before Williams earned a narrow win in the NESCAC Semifinals.

The Ephs were victorious in the first six matches to finish. Williams collected wins at No. 3, No. 9 and No. 6, followed by triumphs in the fifth, eighth and second slots.

Middlebury made the score 6-1 when Beatrijs Kuijpers won after her opponent retired late in the first game atop the ladder.

The Ephs made the score 7-1 with a four-game decision at No. 4, before Gwen Davis rounded out the action with a five-game triumph in the seventh spot against Kathryn Wright (9-11, 11-5, 11-4, 10-12, 11-9).

Selected individuals will compete from February 28- March 2 at the CSA Individual Championships in Providence, Rhode Island. The event will be hosted by Brown and the Moses Brown School.
