Women's Swimming and Diving

Swim Teams Solid at Amherst

The Middlebury swimming and diving teams wrapped up the semester with a meet at Amherst on Saturday afternoon. The Panther men were outscored 163-112, while the women were downed 176.5-112.5. Middlebury returns to action on January 11-12 when they visit Colby and Bates.

The Middlebury quartet comprised of Courtney Gantt, Katie Cantrell, Lily Siemasko and Frances VanderMeer picked up a win in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:40.87. Haley Hutchinson earned a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.14, Maddie McKean was victorious in the 100 fly (1:02.17), while VanderMeer touched the wall first in the 50 free (24.63). Picking up a win on the three-meter diving board was Mary Cate Carroll with 196.42 points.

On the men's side, Corey Jalbert, Bryan Chang, Aidan McKenrick and Jake Gaughan were victorious in the 400 free relay, taking home the title in 3:18.05. Aska Matsuda touched the wall first in the 500 free (5:04.71), Sam Pelletier was a winner in the 200 IM (2:03.10), while Nicholas Handali earned the best time in the 100 fly (54.42).
