Women's Hockey Completes Sweep Of Connecticut College

The Middlebury women's hockey team completed a two-game sweep of Connecticut College (0-2, 0-2) on Saturday with a 4-0 shutout, outscoring the Camels 7-0 on the weekend. The 10th-ranked Panthers (2-0, 2-0) return to action on Friday at 7:00 p.m. when they hosts Amherst in the home-opener.

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead 7:36 into the game when Delanie Goniwiecha carried the puck into the zone before scoring with a snapshot to the top-right corner of the net. The goal was the first of her career.

The lead doubled at the 5:05 mark of the third period when Jenna Letterie used her speed to carry the puck from her own blue line, before scoring on a breakaway. It was a 3-0 game just 2:27 later when Ellie Barney tipped in a shot from the right point by Alexis Ryan. Madie Leidt capped the scoring at the 11:41 mark, circling the net before scoring on the short side.

Middlebury held a 29-19 shots advantage in the game, as Anna Goldstein made 19 saves to earn her fifth-career shutout. Carly Denora made 25 stops for the Camels. Middlebury was 0-3 on the power play, while Connecticut College went 0-5.
