Box Score

The Middlebury women's hockey team opened up its 2019-20 season with a 3-0 road win at Connecticut College. The 10th-ranked Panthers are back in action on Saturday with another game against the Camels at 3:00 p.m.

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead 15:08 into the game with the first goal of her career for Maddie Bayard. The power-play tally came as Bayard centered the puck to Mary Thompson, before it found its way back to Bayard for the goal.

Just 1:10 later, Anna Zumwinkle's initial shot from the left point was saved, before Ashley McDonald put home the rebound for the 2-0 advantage.

The Panthers made it a 3-0 game with another power-play goal just 13 seconds into the second period. Claudia Vira stopped a clearing attempt along the left boards and sent a pass to Madie Leidt for the score.

Middlebury goaltender Lin Han kept the Camels off the board four minutes into the period, making a great save on Lauren Helm on a two-on-one break.

Han kept the shutout intact in the final minute, making a nice save on Camile Phelan to earn the 12th clean sheet of her career.

Middlebury held a 19-17 shots advantage in the game as Carly Denora made 16 stops for the Camels and Han finished with 17. The Panthers were 2-2 on the power play, while the Camels went 0-1.
