The Panther swimming and diving teams got back on the winning track with road dual meet wins at Union. The men eased past the host Dutchmen by a 190-76 score, while the women cruised over the Dutchwomen, 194-87. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Hamilton and Williams for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
As a team, the men won 12 of the 15 events during Saturday's meet. The visitors jumped out to an early lead as the 200-yard medley relay of Brendan Leech, Bryan Chang, Will Pannos and Jake Gaughan was victorious with a winning time of 1:40.75.
Individually, Morgan Matsuda tallied three wins in the pool for the Panthers, while Corey Jalbert picked up two victories. Matsuda won the 200 freestyle (1:47.89), the 200 breaststroke (2:13.79) and the 200 individual medley (2:02.33). Jalbert led the field to the wall in both the 50 free (22.30) and the 100 free (49.44).
Other event titles came from Leech during the 100 backstroke (54.56), Cody Kim in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.07), Kevin Santoro during the 200 backstroke (2:01.80) and Aska Matsuda in the 500 free (4:53.01).
The 200 free relay team of Keegan Pando, Alex Corda, Leech and Gaughan capped off the meet with a winning time of 1:29.72.
On the diving boards, Mike Chirico claimed the 3-meter event title with 270.98 points.
During the women's competition, the Panthers were victorious in 11 of the 15 events contested. The 200 medley relay quartet of Frances VanderMeer, Erin Kelly, Maddie McKean and Audrey Hsi won with a time of 1:52.73.
VanderMeer picked up two event wins in the pool. She touched the wall first in both the 100 backstroke (1:00.41) and the 100 freestyle (55.27).
Additional event wins were tallied by Kelly in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.38), Jessica Lipton during the 200 butterfly (2:18.16), Hsi in the 50 free (25.74) and Hannah Wander during the 200 breaststroke (2:35.12). Georgia Houde claimed the 500 free title (5:23.73), McKean won the 100 fly (1:00.94), while Grace Stimson led the field to the wall in the 200 individual medley (2:14.79).
The 200 free relay team of Courtney Gantt, Erin Kelly, Audrey Kelly and McKean touched first with a winning mark of 1:42.58.
