Middlebury ran its winning streak to four with two victories in women's squash action Saturday in the Bostwick Family Squash Center. The 15th-ranked Panthers opened play with an 8-0 blanking of Bowdoin, followed by a 9-0 victory over No. 23 Colby. The Panthers (6-1) return to the court Sunday when they host 18th-ranked Bates at 11:00 a.m.
In the win over the Polar Bears (0-7), the Panthers didn't surrender a game. Victories by Mira Chugh at No. 8 (11-0, 11-1, 11-0), Natalie Madden in the sixth spot (11-0, 11-0, 11-0) and Alexa Comai at No. 3 (11-3, 11-2, 11-9) gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead.
Wins four through six came from Gwen Davis at No. 7 (11-3, 11-2, 11-1), Anne Glassie in the fifth spot (11-6, 11-2, 11-3) and Ideal Dowling at No. 2 (11-0, 11-4, 11-0). Virginia Schaus at No. 4 (11-3, 11-3, 11-2) and Beatrijs Kuijpers in the top position (12-10, 11-3, 11-3) rounded out the scoring.
Against Colby (2-3), Middlebury raced out to a 3-0 advantage behind wins from Chugh at No. 6 (11-2, 11-2, 11-2), Maren Taylor in the ninth spot (11-3, 11-8, 11-4) and Schaus at No. 3 (11-6, 11-3, 11-5).
The next four wins for the Panthers occurred in three games. Davis eased past her opponent in the middle of the ladder (11-4, 11-3, 11-4), while Hadley Barr notched her first collegiate win in the eighth spot (11-5, 11-2, 11-4). Lowitt cruised at No. 7 (11-2, 11-3, 11-3), while Madden was victorious in the fourth spot (11-5, 11-5, 11-5).
Comai tallied the eighth Panther point with a four-game win at No. 2 (8-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-7), while Dowling concluded the scoring at No. 1 with a three-game triumph (13-11, 11-4, 11-5).
