The Panther men's golf team captured the NESCAC Fall Qualifier and has earned the right to host the four-team league championship on April 27-28, 2019. Middlebury finished with a two-day total of 587, one stroke ahead of Trinity (588) and five better than Hamilton (592). The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, October 9 at the Ekwanok Tournament.
Trailing by two strokes after 18 holes, Middlebury followed up a 293 on day one with a 294 on Sunday to capture the qualifier. The weekend was hosted by Wesleyan at the Lyman Orchards Golf Club.
Reid Buzby was the top Panther finisher, finishing all alone in third place with a two-day total of 144 (71-73). Two strokes behind him was Jordan Bessalel, who concluded his tournament in fourth place overall with a 146 (72-74). Phin Choukas wasn't far back, shooting a 148 (75-73) to tie for eighth place, while Kenneth Dieker was one shot back with a 149 (75-74), sharing 11th place. David Packer rounded out the Middlebury golfers, tying for 23rd place with a 154 (78-76).
