Williams captured the 35th Annual Duke Nelson Tournament hosted by Middlebury College. The Ephs shot a two-day total of 584, four strokes better than Trinity (588). The Panthers came in with an even 600, including a 297 on day two to place seventh among 22 teams. Action took place at the par-71 Ralph Myhre Golf Course on the Middlebury campus. The Panthers return to action next weekend at the Williams Fall Invitational.
Sam Goldenring of Williams took home medalist honors, shooting a 69 and 70 for a three-under-par 139.
David Packer paced Middlebury on its home course, finishing in a tie for 10th place with a two-day total of 147 (74-73). Up next was Reid Buzby (73-77) and Jordan Bessalel, who each shot a 150, including a 71 from Bessalel on day two. Philippe Morin came in with a 153 (77-76), while David McDaniel rounded out the top five with a 157 (79-78).
