The Middlebury men's tennis team concluded its stellar trip through Connecticut with a 5-4 victory Sunday at 13th-ranked Wesleyan (6-7, 4-3). The match took place at the John Wood Memorial Tennis Courts. Winners of seven-straight contests, the sixth-ranked Panthers (17-3, 6-1) end the regular-season portion of their schedule on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. home match against No. 7 Amherst.
The visitors started Sunday's action by recording two of the three doubles points. The top Panther tandem of Lubomir Cuba and Kyle Schlanger edged Princeton Carter and Tiago Eusebio 8-6, while the team of William de Quant and Noah Farrell doubled the advantage with an 8-6 triumph over Adrian Roji and Win Smith. The Cardinals got on the scoreboard with a win in a tiebreaker at No. 3.
During singles action, Nate Eazor made the score 3-1 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Roji at No. 5, while Schlanger defeated Cam Daniels one flight above by scores of 6-2, 6-0. In the third position, de Quant clinched the match for the Panthers via a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Eusebio.
The Cardinals closed out the match with wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6, respectively, for the final 5-4 score.
