Panthers Compete in Three Events On Final Day of NCAA Meet

The Middlebury swimming & diving teams concluded competition on Saturday at the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. The four-day meet took place at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana, with Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corporation serving as the hosts. As a team, the Panther women scored 8.5 points during the meet to finish 37th out of 51 scoring teams.

Frances VanderMeer touched the wall in 18th place during the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.39. She narrowly missed swimming in the evening's consolation final by .02 seconds. Also competing as an individual was Maya Gomez who finished 38th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.84).

In the final preliminary of the morning session, the 400-yard freestyle relay quartet of VanderMeer, Gomez, Erin Kelly and Stephanie Andrews posted a time of 3:31.67, good for 26th place.
