Fourth-ranked Middlebury scored the first 11 goals and cruised to a 13-1 NESCAC victory over Wesleyan Saturday on Kohn Field. The Panthers (5-0, 3-0) continue conference play on Saturday when they host #20 Bowdoin at 12:00 p.m., while the 18th-ranked Cardinals (4-1, 2-1) travel to Florida for a Tuesday match-up against Babson.

The hosts opened the scoring 18 seconds into the contest, as Emma McDonagh fired a low shot past Wesleyan goalie Allegra Grant. McDonagh and Casey O'Neill each cashed in on free-position shots minutes later for a 3-0 edge with 22:07 on the clock. Kirsten Murphy factored in on the next three goals for Middlebury, scoring once and assisting on tallies by Georgia Carroll and Emily Barnard. 

McDonagh converted a free-position attempt with 13:46 remaining, before Panther goalie Julia Keith made her toughest save of the opening half with 12:38 on the clock. Keith thwarted Abigail Horst on a free-position attempt, keeping the score at 7-0.

Carroll hit the upper-right corner with another free-position bid for an 8-0 advantage, and Middlebury closed out the opening 30 minutes with two more late scores. The first came on Jenna McNicholas' shot over Grant's left shoulder and the second on a high shot by Barnard for a 10-0 difference at the half.

In the second frame, McDonagh made it 11-0 off a feed from Carroll, while the Cardinals broke though for their lone score with 21:14 left. Abby Manning scored off a free-position shot, while Wesleyan had a one-player advantage. The Panthers added two more goals in the final 20 minutes with O'Neill and Kate Zecca each finding the back of the net for the 13-1 final.

McDonagh paced the Panthers with four goals, while Murphy recorded four points on one goal and three assists. Barnard, Carroll and O'Neill each added two tallies. Evie Keating anchored the defense with a game-high six caused turnovers and four ground balls, while Hollis Perticone secured five draw controls. Keith finished with four saves for her fifth-straight win.

Manning accounted for the Cardinal goal, while Grant finished with 10 saves as Middlebury held a 27-10 edge in shots. Caroline Sgaglione recorded three ground balls and caused four turnovers.

Middlebury's defense, which entered the game ranked fourth nationally, held an opponent to three goals or fewer for the fourth time this season and has yielded only 14 total through five games.
