Panther Men Stay Unbeaten With Two Road Victories

The fourth-ranked Middlebury men's tennis team continued its unbeaten start to the spring, picking up road victories at #21 MIT by a 6-3 score, followed by a 9-0 win at #19 Brandeis. The Panthers (5-0) return to action during their spring break trip with seven matches in California, beginning with a contest on March 24 at Azusa Pacific.

In the match at MIT (2-3), the doubles tandem of Noah Farrell and Peter Martin got the hosts on the board with an 8-0 victory at No. 2 over Victor Cheng and Michael Zhao. The No. 3 flight of Timo van der Geest and Nate Eazor won 8-2 against Albert Go and Sean Ko, while the top doubles team of Lubomir Cuba and Kyle Schlanger made it 3-0 with an 8-4 triumph over Tyler Barr and Alex Cauneac.

In singles action, the Engineers scored their first point due to a retirement at No. 2. Schlanger claimed Middlebury's fourth point in the third spot with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Ko, while Cuba clinched the match at the top spot with a 6-3, 7-5 win against Barr.

MIT made the score 5-3 with wins from the No. 4 and No. 3 positions. Eazor rounded out the scoring with a 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 triumph at the bottom of the lineup against Go.

Later in the day at the Natick Racquet Club against Brandeis (5-2), the Panthers swept the doubles matches. The team of Cuba and Schlanger won by an 8-2 score over David Aizenberg and Anupreeth Coramutla in the No. 1 flight. At No. 3, Brach and Eazor won 8-5 over Nikhil Das and Rajan Vohra, while van der Geest and Martin posted an 8-3 triumph in the second spot versus Tyler Ng and Jackson Kogan.

During singles action, Schlanger was victorious by scores of 6-1, 6-0 over Coramutla at No. 2, while Eazor clinched the match and the team's fifth point with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Das in the fifth spot. Cuba made the score 6-0 via a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the top slot against Kogan.

The final three victories for the Panthers came from Andre Xiao over Ben Wolfe at No. 6 (6-3, 6-2), van der Geest against Vohra in the third spot (6-3, 3-6, 10-8) and Alex Vanezis at No. 4 over Ng (3-6, 6-4, 10-1).
