The fourth-ranked Panther men's tennis team played its first road match of the spring on Friday evening, sweeping Colby by a 9-0 score. The contest was played in Dartmouth's Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion. The Panthers (3-0, 2-0) return to action on Saturday with a 10:00 a.m. matchup at No. 21 MIT, followed by a 4:00 p.m. contest at No. 19 Brandeis.
During doubles action, Middlebury's top tandem of Lubomir Cuba and Kyle Schlanger started things off with an 8-3 victory over Scott Altmeyer and Sumukh Pathi. The No. 2 flight of Timo van der Geest and Peter Martin won 8-2 over Luis Gonzalez Komaplic, while the third doubles team of Weston Brach and Nate Eazor fought back from a 6-3 deficit for a 9-7 victory over Shaw Speer and Garrett Reiter.
In singles action, Eazor claimed the team's fourth point at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jonathan Hallal, while Schlanger clinched the match at the top spot with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Altmeyer. Andre Xiao picked up a win at No. 5 by 6-2, 6-3 scores against Gonzalez Kompalic, while Alex Vanezis eased past Reiter in the third position of the lineup by identical 6-2, 6-2 tallies.
The Panthers' eighth and ninth points came from Adam Guo at No. 6 (7-6 (3), 6-4) over Mendoza and van der Geest in the second slot against Pathi (6-2, 7-5).
