Middlebury continued action with numerous top-10 finishes on the second day of the 2018 NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship inside Bowdoin's Greason Pool. Tufts leads the way with 1,173 points, while Williams (1,161) and Amherst (1,057.5) round out the top three. The Panthers move up to seventh place with 472.5 points.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Kevin Santoro, Stefan Pla, Will Pannos and Brendan Leech started the evening with a seventh-place finish in 1:34.12.
In the night's first individual final, Alec Wilson touched the wall with a 10th-place finish in the 1,000 free, posting a time of 9:43.06. A few events later, Pannos finished third in the 100 butterfly consolation final, winding up 12th with a mark of 50.17, while Connor McCormick stopped the clock 13th in the 100 breaststroke (57.29).
Santaro wrapped up his evening as an individual with a seventh-place swim in the 100 backstroke, bettering his morning swim by .16 seconds with a time of 51.52.
During the evening's final event, the 800-freestyle relay quartet of McCormick, Morgan Matsuda, Wilson and Zack Einhorn swam to a 10th-place finish in a time of 6:58.68.
The Panthers conclude the championship Sunday with morning preliminaries scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., and the finals session starting at 5:30 p.m. with the 1,650 freestyle.
