Middlebury finished in seventh place overall at the 2018 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Williams in the Samuelson-Muir Pool. The Ephs captured their fifth-consecutive title, amassing 1,971 points during the three-day meet. Amherst ended up in second place with 1,615 points, followed by Connecticut College (1.060.5) in the third spot. The Panthers accumulated 826 points over the course of the meet.
In the night's first event, Sarah McEachern finished sixth with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 17:27.96 in the 1,650 freestyle. Teammate Angela Riggins was 12th in the event, touching the wall with a time of 17:41.51.
Frances VanderMeer capped her individual meet off with a bang, swimming to a runner-up effort in the 100 free with an NCAA 'B' cut mark of 51.70. Sandwiched between those two events was the 200 backstroke, where McEachern stopped the clock fifth in the consolation final, posting a time of 2:07.81 for 13th place.
During the 200 breaststroke championship final, Maya Gomez was fourth with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 2:21.10, bettering her preliminary time by nearly a full second. Erin Kelly finished in the runner-up spot in the consolation final with a mark of 2:25.60.
Following her fifth-place effort during Friday's 1-meter final, Elissa DeNunzio dove to a sixth-place finish in Sunday's 3-meter competition with 387.35 points. She was named the NESCAC Senior High-Point Diver at the conclusion of the meet, becoming the first Panther to accomplish the feat.
In the final event of the evening, the Middlebury team of VanderMeer, Gomez, Kristin Karpowicz and Stephanie Andrews finished sixth in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:31.78.
