Women's Squash Defeats Amherst at CSA Team Nationals

The Middlebury women's squash team posted a 6-3 victory on Sunday over Amherst in the Kurtz Cup's 15th/16th-place match at the CSA National Team Championship. The match took place at Harvard's Murr Center. The Panthers finish the season ranked 15th-nationally with a record of 12-10.

Middlebury and Amherst split the first four matches to finish. Natasha Lowitt gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead with a four-game win at #9 over Ashira Mawji (8-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7), before the Mammoths grabbed a 2-1 advantage with victories at #6 and #3. Mira Chugh leveled the match for Middlebury with a four-game triumph at #8 over Pierson Klein (3-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-8).

The Panthers clinched the match with three-consecutive wins from the #5, #7 and #2 spots of the ladder. Natalie Madden needed four games to get past Madison Chen at #5 (11-9, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9), Emily Beinkampen edged Margaret Werner in the seventh spot in three games (11-7, 11-7, 12-10), while Lucy Bostwick clinched the match with a five-game win at #2 over Haley McAtee (9-11, 11-5, 11-3, 8-11, 11-1).

The Mammoths made the score 5-3 with a three-game decision at #4, before Beatrijs Kuijpers rounded out the action with a three-game triumph atop the ladder against Kimberly Krayacich (11-6, 12-10, 11-9).
