Middlebury finished fourth at the 2018 New England Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship held Saturday on the New Balance Track in Virtue Field House, breaking a number of school records during the event. The Panthers collected 83 points among the 28 scoring programs, finishing behind Tufts (110), MIT (97) and Williams (92.5). The team is home again next weekend, hosting the Middlebury Carnival. The top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.

Jimmy Martinez had a big meet for the Panthers, winning the 400 meters with a time of 48.66 seconds. He was also fourth in the 200 meters (22.42), trailing teammate Nicholas Hendrix, who was third in 22.40. In the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash, Hendrix set a school-record time of 7.07 seconds set by Bryan Holtzman in 2013. The distance medley relay team added a first-place performance, as the quartet of Jonathan Perlman, Paul Malloy, Nathan Hill and Will Meyer boasted a top time of 10:21.57.

Middlebury's Martinez, Matthew Durst, Tyler Farrell and Cameron Mackintosh claimed second in the 4x400 relay with a clocking of 3:21.57.

Hill added a third-place finish in the 800 meters (1:55.11), while Matt D'Aquila placed in that same spot during the 5,000 (15:07.62). Kevin Serrao was fourth in the 1,000 meters (2:32.11) and fifth in the mile (4:16.71), while teammate Harrison Knowlton was fifth in the 5,000 (15:10.50).

In the field events, Minhaj Rahman broke his own school record in the 35-pound weight throw by more than a foot, placing fourth with a heave of 56'6". John Natalone was fifth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 14'9.5".

In the heptathlon, Jonathan Fisher topped his own school record, finishing with 4,213 points as he placed sixth.
