Women's Squash Ends First Semester With Loss to No. 14 GW

The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team concluded its first-semester action on Sunday, falling to 14th-ranked George Washington by a 5-4 score. The match was played in the Kellner Squash Center on the campus of Trinity. The Panthers (2-1) have nearly a month off from competition before returning to the court Saturday, January 5 for a home match with Williams beginning at 2:00 p.m.

In the setback against the Colonials (3-5), Mira Chugh tallied the first point with a three-game win (11-5, 11-4, 11-7) over Zoe Eberstadt-Beattie at the bottom of the ladder. Following a win by GW at No. 3, Middlebury regained the lead when Natalie Madden was victorious in four games (11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6) against Brooke Feldman in the sixth slot.

The Colonials leveled the match at 2-2 with a three-game triumph at No. 2. The Panthers grabbed a 3-2 edge when Gwen Davis defeated Aarushi Lakhotia in four games (11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 11-3) in the eighth position.

GW claimed the next two matches to finish at No. 1 and No. 7 for a 4-3 advantage. Middlebury knotted the score at 4-4 behind a three-game triumph by Natasha Lowitt over Haley Hunt by scores of 11-3, 11-4, 13-11. The Colonials claimed the narrow victory with a four-game win at No. 8.
