Box Score Maddie Winslow scored 44 seconds into overtime, lifting fifth-ranked Middlebury (12-3-1, 8-1-1) to a 2-1 victory at Hamilton (10-6-1, 7-3) in Sage Rink. The win puts the Panthers in first place all alone in the NESCAC standings, as they complete the two-game sweep of the Continentals. Middlebury returns to action on Tuesday night when they host top-ranked Plattsburgh at 7:00 p.m.
After a scoreless first period where Middlebury outshot Hamilton 16-2, the Panthers took a 1-0 lead 2:39 into the second session. Ellie Barney's shot from the right point was saved, before Rachael St. Clair pounced on the rebound for a 1-0 lead.
Hamilton tied the game at the 7:59 mark, taking advantage of a turnover. Maddie Beitler made a quick feed to Andrea Rockey, who deked before scoring through the five hole to knot the game at 1-1. The period ended with the visitors holding another sizable edge in shots, 16-6.
Neither team was able to take the lead in the third, forcing the game into overtime.
Middlebury dominated the shots on goal battle, holding a 48-18 advantage. Julia Neuburger made 17 saves in goal to earn the win, while Sam Walther made 46 stops for the hosts.
