Panthers Place First at Middlebury Invitational

The Middlebury men's indoor track and field team took top honors at the Middlebury Invitational, with the women finishing second. The men ran away with the team title among 10 programs, recording 175 points, followed by Williams (106) and St. Lawrence (104). The women scored 144 points, trailing only Williams (147). The Panthers return to action next weekend, traveling to the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday.

For the men, Matthew Durst ran a swift time of 1:09.98 to win the 500 meters, while Kevin Serrao posted a winning effort in the 1,000 in 2:30.74. Durst was also a member of the winning 4x400 relay team along with Arden Coleman, Tyler Farrell and Cameron Mackintosh, which combined for a time of 3:28.08. Middlebury also won the 4x200 relay, as Nicholas Hendrix, Jimmy Martinez, Jackson Bock and Michael Pallozzi had a clocking of 1:31.47. Jonathan Perlman added a victory in the mile with a time of 4:19.62 and Harrison Knowlton topped the field in the 5,000 (15:18.73).

In the field events, Minhaj Rahman won the 35-pound weight throw for the third-straight week with a distance of 52'7.5." John Natalone had the final win for the Panthers, clearing a height of 14'5.25" in the pole vault.

Jonathan Fisher added to the successful day, breaking his own school record in the heptathlon with 4,197 points.

The women posted victories in four different events, starting with Alex Cook in the long jump. Cook sailed 16'11.25" to place first, winning the event by nearly 11 inches. Lucy Lang and Kate McCluskey were both double winners, taking first in an individual event and a relay. Lang won the 500 meters in 1:21.65, while McCluskey was the only runner under a minute in the 400 with a clocking of 57.89 seconds. They joined forces with Kai Milici and Meg Wilson for a top time of 4:05.69 in the 4x400-meter relay.
