Middlebury blanked Boston University on Friday evening 9-0 in a match played at MIT's Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Squash Courts. The 13th-ranked Panthers (8-4) return to the courts on Saturday when they play #16 Virginia at 2:00 p.m. in a match contested at Harvard.
In the win over the Terriers (2-11), the Panthers didn't surrender a game. Victories by Natasha Lowitt at #6 (11-1, 11-1, 11-0) over Molly Papermaster and Virginia Schaus against Shelby Bannon in the third spot (11-1, 11-0, 11-1) gave the Panthers a 2-0 advantage. Olivia Cappello made the score 3-0 in favor of Middlebury with an 11-3, 11-0, 11-2 at #8 against Rose Zhao.
Wins four through six came from Natalie Madden at #2 over Anisha Nawalrai Melwani (11-1, 11-0, 11-2), Mira Chugh in the fifth spot against Jackie Loring (11-1, 11-2, 11-3) and Caroline Jahrling at #9 over Shannah Shamrakov (11-4, 11-0, 11-0).
Anne Glassie in the top spot posted an 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 win over Laura Ferreira-Cesar, while Emily Beinkampen made the score 8-0 with an 11-1, 11-2, 11-1 triumph against Normandie Essig in the fourth position. Lily Bogle completed the sweep with an 11-1, 11-1, 11-2 victory against Katherine Gianni at #7.
