The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team slipped past visiting Franklin & Marshall on Saturday by a 6-3 score. The Panthers (7-3) return to action on Sunday with their home finale against #8 Cornell starting at 12:00 p.m.
In the contest with the 18th-ranked Diplomats (0-9), the hosts grabbed an early 2-0 advantage with win at #9 from Natasha Lowitt over Katie Anderson (11-1, 11-2, 11-6) and Virginia Schaus against Melissa Epstein in the sixth slot (11-0, 11-2, 11-6).
F&M made the score 2-1 with a three-game victory at #3. The Panthers secured the team victory with four-consecutive triumphs, including three coming in three games. Mira Chugh eased past Liana Zranchev at #8 (11-5, 11-3, 11-4), Natalie Madden defeated Katherine Galambos in the fifth spot (11-6, 12-10, 11-2), while Lucy Bostwick clinched the match with an 11-13, 11-4, 11-6, 11-3 win against Lauren Johnston in the #2 spot.
Emily Beinkampen concluded the run and gave Middlebury a 6-1 lead, cruising past Grace Smith at #7 by scores of 11-4, 11-0 and 11-2.
The Diplomats concluded the scoring with a four-game win in the top spot and a five-game decision at #4 for the final 6-3 score.
