The Middlebury volleyball team opened NESCAC play with a five-set come-from-behind road win (22-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 16-14) over NESCAC foe Amherst on Friday evening in Lefrak Gymnasium. The Panthers (3-2, 1-0) return to the court Saturday when they travel to Trinity for a 2:00 p.m. match.

Isabel Sessions led the Middlebury attack with 20 kills, while Becca Raffel was right behind with 17 kills to go along with 14 digs for the visitors. Chellsa Ferdinand handed out 49 assists in addition to 12 digs, while Gigi Alper had a team-best 28 digs. Emily Kolodka added 22 digs for the Panthers, while Beth Neal tallied four of the team's eight service aces. Sarah Staver (three block solos, two block assists) as well as Eliana Schaefer (two block solos, three block assists) both had solid nights at the net for the Panthers.

For the Mammoths (3-3, 0-1), Marialexa Natsis had 22 kills and Cameron Hendricks added 17. Hayes Honea posted a match-best 37 digs and Charlotte Duran notched a team-high 51 assists.
