Women's Squash Loses to Bates at CSA Team Nationals

The Middlebury women's squash team fell to Bates by a score of 6-3 in the Kurtz Cup's 15th/16th-place match at the CSA National Team Championship. Sunday's match took place the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. The Panthers finish the season ranked 16th-nationally with a record of 9-12.

Middlebury and Bates split the first four matches to finish. Following a victory at #3 for Bates, Natasha Lowitt got the Panthers on the scoreboard from the #9 spot (9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 12-10), fighting back to win in four games after dropping the first. Lucy Bostwick gave Middlebury a 2-1 lead via a five-game triumph at the #6 spot of the ladder (6-11, 11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7).

The Bobcats knotted the match at 2-2 with a victory at #2, but Caroline Jahrling put the Panthers ahead by one at 3-2 with a three-game win in the eighth spot (11-3, 11-7, 13-11).

Bates reeled off the last four matches of the day for the final 6-3 score, as the last two to be completed went to five games at #4 and #7.
