Behind a winning performance from Isabel Wyer during Saturday evening's 200 free, Middlebury remained in fifth place following the second day of the 2017 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship in Bowdoin's Greason Pool. Williams increased its lead in the team standings on day two with a two-day total of 1,288 points, while Amherst sits in second place with 1,007.5 points. Connecticut College (950.5), Bates (842.5) and Middlebury (839) round out the top-five spots.

Wyer highlighted Saturday's championship session for the Panthers with a winning 200 free time of 1:50.85, good for an NCAA 'B' cut. Morgan Burke finished seventh during the same event in 1:53.09.

In the night's initial championship final, the 200 medley relay quartet of Frances VanderMeer, Celia Ripple, Maya Gomez and Stephanie Andrews touched the wall in fifth place with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:45.08.

A top-five individual finish was posted by Gomez, who earned a fifth-place swim and NCAA 'B' cut in the 100 breaststroke, stopping the clock with a time of 1:03.78 after a 1:03.38 mark during the morning preliminary. The second event was the 1,000 free with Jessica Lipton touching the wall in a time of 10:36.43, good for 10th place, while Nora O'Leary was also 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.12).

In the evening's final event, the 800 free relay team of Burke, Kristin Karpowicz, Andrews and Wyer posted a fifth-place and NCAA 'B' cut effort of 7:37.39.

The Panthers will conclude the championship Sunday morning with preliminaries scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., while the finals session will start at 5:30 p.m. with the 1,650 freestyle.
