The Middlebury women's squash team ended a grueling stretch with five matches in as many days, grinding out a 7-2 road victory Wednesday at #17 Amherst. The 15th-ranked Panthers have a few days off before returning to the court Saturday with matches in Pennsylvania against #13 Franklin & Marshall at 11:00 a.m., followed by a 2:00 p.m. contest with #23 Dickinson.

In the victory against the Purple & White, seven of the nine matches that were contested needed four or five games to decide a victor. The initial point for the Panthers (5-2) came from Lucy Bostwick at #8 (16-14, 11-8, 11-4), while Liddy Renner made it a 2-0 advantage for the visitors with a four-game win in the fourth spot (11-2, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8).

Amherst cut the Middlebury edge in half with a four-game victory at #2, but Audrey Ellen pushed the Panther lead back to two at 3-1 with a four-game triumph at #6 (11-4, 8-11, 11-7, 11-9). Beatrijs Kuijpers posted a three-game victory atop the ladder (11-7, 13-11, 11-4), while Alexa Comai clinched the team's fifth point at #3 with a five-game win after trailing two games to one (6-11, 11-3, 3-11, 11-8, 11-7).

The hosts secured their second point with a five-game win at #7. Mira Chugh dropped the first game at #5, but edged her opponent in each of the final three games for the victory (7-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-9), while Natasha Lowitt needed five games to earn Middlebury's seventh point of the match (12-10, 13-15, 16-14, 10-12, 11-5).
