The Middlebury men's golf team is tied for first place with Trinity after 18 holes of play at the Williams Spring Classic being played at the Taconic Golf Club. Each team fired a 312 on the first day of competition, with the host Ephs (314), Hamilton (316) and Amherst (324) rounding out the top five of the eight-team field. Action concludes on Sunday with the final 18 holes of play.
Philippe Morin turned in the best score among 48 golfers on day one, carding a two-over-par 73. Bennett Doherty is tied for fifth with a 77, followed by Rodrigo Andrade, who came in with a 79 to sit in a tie for 12th place. Just one stroke separated Fitz Bowen (83) and David McDaniel (84), while Joe Ko rounded out the Panthers with an 88.
